3 Juice Recipes: Berry Delicious, Go for the Green, Vitamin ABC

Freshly made juice is one of the healthiest options available out there.  It exists as a great choice for dieters, those maintaining a raw diet or for those who simply desire better nutrition. 

Whether you’re enjoying juice for breakfast, lunch or dinner, or as a quick mid-day pick-me-up, any creation will be packed with nutritional benefits. 

With endless combinations available, each juice you concoct can be different and approved by your taste buds.  Need some ideas to get you started?  Take a look at these:

Berry Delicious

Want to create a beautiful juice your eyes will fall in love with first?  Try this one, which can come out as a stunning red or purple, depending on the quantities of berries you add.   Adding greater amounts of strawberries and raspberries will change the juice to red while more blueberries and blackberries will create a more purple color.

  • Two cups of strawberries
  • Two cups of blueberries
  • One cup of blackberries and/or raspberries
  • Half a mango

Berries are nature’s antioxidant masterpiece.  Though small, blueberries contain some of the highest amounts of antioxidants available through natural means.  Easily freezable, it’s simple to buy them in bulk in season, whether at a store or farmer’s market and freeze them for later use.  Adjust this recipe to reflect your tastes and fresh, seasonal availability.  This juice is an excellent pick-me-up midday as well.

Go for the Green

Can’t look at another serving of limp greens? Tired of munching salads? Juice greens instead.  Here’s a great combination for drinking greens:

  • kale
  • chard
  • two handfuls of green grapes
  •  one cucumber
  • your favorite apple

Honey crisp apples will lend a sugary sweetness to this juice, while Granny Smith will lend a tart taste great for helping you wake up to your day.  Adding an additional apple will also sweeten the juice. When including greens, discard of any think stems.  When choosing greens, be sure they are crisp; avoid limp or browning greens.  The greens in this juice provide iron and vitamin K among many other goodies.

The ABCs of Vitamins

Vitamins, vitamins, who’s got the vitamins?  This juice is power-packed with vitamins A, B, C, E.  Try this juice especially leading up to cold and flu season to help boost your immune system naturally with increased amounts of vitamin C.

  • two apples
  • two pears
  • a handful of pitted cherries
  • one orange or grapefruit

Fresh, organic fruits are best, but if it is past their normal growing season, head for the freezer section for the best selection.  Frozen fruits are picked at their peak and frozen, which preserves the majority of their nutrients.  Plus, an added bonus when including frozen fruit: the juice becomes a bit more refreshing.

Investing in a high quality juicing machine is well worth the investment.  Creating fresh, nutritious juices provides your body with the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients it craves on a daily basis.  And because juices use raw ingredients, the natural enzymes found in these fruits and vegetables maintain their benefits when ingested.  For an added boost to juices, considering adding supplements which won’t alter the taste such as a probiotic pill.
