Prunes, on the other hand, contain well-known laxative properties.

Whole prunes and prune juice not only contain a good source of dietary fiber, as well as potassium and vitamin A. On top of that, they also contain significant sources of sorbitol and plant compounds believed to provide a laxative affect.

There are many old wives’ tales out there regarding our health, however, in this case, your grandma was right. Prunes can really be an effective home remedy for relieving constipation.

How to relieve constipation naturally?

Juicing is great – it supplies the body with lots of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other vital nutrients in a form that can be easily absorbed by your body.

However, but if the rest of what you eat consist of animal protein and processed foods, then you are not doing your body a favor.

For proper digestion and elimination, make sure that you are eating lots and lots of whole fresh fruits and vegetables as snacks, salads and smoothies. Whole grains, legumes, and nuts are also recommended.

These foods should be replacing all the constipating foods, which include all processed foods (white flour products, white rice, processed cereals, etc.), and animal protein foods (meat, dairy products).

Remember that even though being constipated once in a while is not a reason for concern, if it happens on a regular basis, it’s a problem that needs to be addressed, to avoid more serious health consequences later on.
