If your blood cholesterol levels are too high and you really would like to bring them down quickly, then try this recipe for “Cholesterol Lowering Tonic”.
I found this recipe in “The Complete Book of Juicing” and – since I know a lot of people who have high cholesterol (including my husband), I thought this will be a great recipe to post on this juicing recipe site. Also be sure to check out this post – “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” Juice Reboot.
Carrot-Apple-Garlic-Ginger Recipe for Cholesterol Lowering Tonic
Here is the recipe for the tonic:
First, run the ginger and garlic through your juicer. The best way to do it – to reduce some of the strong odor of garlic – is to wrap them in the parsley leaves and feed them into the juicing machine.
Next, juice the carrots and apples. Add some hot sauce for more punch, if you like.
This combination of ginger, garlic, and capsicum in the Tabasco sauce is recommended as a very effective mixture for lowering cholesterol levels. These ingredients may also work well to reduce the risk of heart attack and stroke, as they work in concert to prevent blood platelets from bunching together.
However, once you master this recipe, don’t feel limited by it. Experiment with various ingredients, such as beets, kale, cabbage, cucumbers, celery, etc. to make colorful, cholesterol-lowering concoctions.
Tips for Lowering Cholesterol Naturally
It is important to note here, that if you really want to bring your cholesterol levels down effectively and permanently, just adding this juice to your diet may not be enough to do the trick.
What you need to do is to take an honest look at everything that you consume throughout the day to see what foods are you eating that are contributing to this problem.
Keeping a food diary is a great way to really get a clear picture of what you really eat.
Cholesterol Lowering Foods
To bring down cholesterol levels permanently, you should be eating a diet that consists mainly of cholesterol lowering foods: fresh fruits, vegetables and greens – not just as juice, but WHOLE; as well as whole grains, legumes, and nuts.
You need to cut out completely or significantly reduce the consumption of all animal protein foods (meats and dairy), as well as all processed and high-fat foods, such as white flour, white sugar, etc. – that includes all pastas, cereals, potato chips, French fries, donuts, etc. These foods contribute to higher cholesterol levels, and cause all sorts of other health problems.
I know it’s hard, but try eliminating these foods for just a couple of weeks – as well as adding more physical activity – and see how you feel – and what your blood cholesterol levels are.
I bet you will be amazed!
