Superfoods versus Fresh Juice: Acai Berry Drink, Zola Açaí Superfruit Juice and Other “Superfoods”
Even if you are juicing to achieve better health, you may still feel you need take additional supplements to make sure you are getting all the nutrients that your body needs.
When you look at the products on the supplement shelf, they all claim to have amazing benefits for health and weight loss, while being 100% natural. Some of them have exotic-sounding names – acai berry drink, zola acai superfruit juice, goji juice, noni juice; and come from far-away locations.
Goji berries grow on an evergreen shrub found in temperate and subtropical regions in China, Mongolia and in the Himalayas in Tibet.
Açaí (ah-sigh-ee) is the high-energy berry of a special Amazon palm tree. Noni is native to Southeast Asia but has been extensively spread throughout the Indian subcontinent, Pacific islands, French Polynesia, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico and recently the Dominican Republic.
My question is “Do you really have to buy all those expensive drinks, pills, powders and extracts?”
Do they really deliver all the benefits they claim to provide? I wrote about it a while ago – read it, save yourself some money, and happy juicing!
Eating does not have to be so complicated.
You can save yourself a lot of money and still achieve amazing health benefits if you do not succumb to each and every big health craze, such as the recent Acai berries rage, and just stick to basics, i.e. eat lots of raw fresh fruits and vegetables and drink freshly prepared juices.

Many people have come to equate nutrition with pills, powders, and caplets, rather than whole foods coming from nature. We want it to be easy – and what can be easier than opening a bottle and taking a few pills?
I have no doubt that acai berries in their raw, ripe state are an excellent food choice, but so are blackberries, blueberries, raspberries, cherries, and other fruits and veggies. No processed food – and all supplements have to be processed in one way or another – can equal raw, living food, such as fruits and vegetables. Companies all over are jumping on the acai supplement bandwagon, however many of these companies are just out for your money.
Why drink fresh juice?
Here is an indisputable truth: fresh vegetable juice contains all the minerals, nutrients, building blocks, proteins, fats (omega 3) and enzymes that our body needs and can easily absorb.
A glass of raw fruit or vegetable juice delivers all the necessary nutrients and healing components that we know about today, and much more, that have yet to be discovered by the science. And, fresh juice provides them in the living form that is easiest for our body to absorb.

Superfood supplements versus fresh foods and juice
No health supplement, no matter how many health benefits the producers claim they have, can compete with fresh fruits and vegetables and their juice. If you do some research on the Internet you’ll be able to read about literally tens of thousands of people who have healed themselves of just about every condition by consuming vegetable and fruit juices. Drinking lots of fresh raw juices is also one of the fastest ways to lose weight.
If you are eating an adequate plant-based raw diet, engaging in frequent vigorous physical activity, and otherwise living a healthy lifestyle, you probably don’t need supplementation. All the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients your body needs are amply supplied through the variety of fruits, vegetables, and leafy greens found in a healthful diet.
For best health benefits, at least 70% or more of your nutrition should come from fresh fruits and vegetables eaten in their RAW state. Juicing is a great way to add more vegetables to your diet – especially green leafy vegetables that are essential to our well being.
What if you still want to try it? How to select supplements and superfoods?
If you still feel you want to try it, make sure you choose a brand that is reputable, made from organic ingredients, and preferably made in the USA.
