Making Juices and Smoothies with Blenders: Best Blender Recommendations

Having written about making juices and smoothies with a blender (read Juicer Recipe: How to Make Juice Without a Juicer Using Just a Blender?), I just have to write more about my favorite blender – VitaMix.  I own a VitaMix Super 5200 (just got it recently for my birthday:)), and it is truly a SUPERB machine! OK, so it’s not cheap, but you know what they say – you get what you pay for – and it’s true! So if you have been thinking about getting a new versatile kitchen appliance and your birthday or Christmas is coming … don’t look any further – get yourself a Vita Mix!

Vitamix Features and Benefits

Vitamix is a versatile and powerful appliance. Vitamix blender will help you simplify your kitchen by replacing your blender, food procesor, juicer, and mixer on your counter top.

  • Versatile Machine. Vitamix can blend, cream, mash, puree, liquify, juice, knead and even cook. You see, Vitamix motor comes with front and reverse action. While the front action will work like in any other blender (just much more powerful), putting it in reverse causes it to heat up and cook whatever is in it.  The Vitamix 5000 and 5200 models feature a dry blade that allows you to grind your own flour. Many people Vitamix as a juicer.
  •

  • Powerful motor. When switched to the highest speed, it will make a perfect smoothie, ice cream, puree, or flour (if you have a dry blade).
  •

  • Easy to clean. When you are done, just pour in some water, add a drop of dishwashing liquid, and turn it on for a few seconds. Vitamix will do the job itself.

  • Long warranty. It comes with a warranty period of up to 5 or 7 years, depending on the model.
  •

  • Comes with a recipe book to jumpstart your creativity. Vitamix comes with a recipe book and information how to use the blender for optimal results. Based on that you can go on to produce your own delicious creations.
  •

Which Vitamix Blender Should I Choose?

How is the VitaMix 5200 different from the Vitamix 4500? I have been researching different models of Vitamix, trying to decide which one to get. Here is the information that I found: —VitaMix TurboBlend 4500— is a high performance 2 speed blender with one wet blade and two-speed control (high and low). It carries a 5 year warranty. —VitaMix 5200– is a food processor with 1 wet blade, variable speed and 7 year warranty. —VitaMix Super 5200— This is the top of the line model, a powerful food processor with variable speed (for up to 35 food tasks), one wet blade, one dry blade, and 7 year warranty. The dry blade is used for chopping dry ingredients, grinding grain and kneading dough.

Juicer Recipes: How to Make Juice Without a Juicer Using a Blender?

Here is an unconventional way to prepare juice – juicing without the juicer, or…

Juicing with a blender!

I just recently received my new Vita-mix (for my birthday – I will not say how old I am, but I sure hope that Vitamix – and the delicious, natural foods that I will prepare with it  – will help me look younger longer), and I decided to test it to prepare some juice. Juicing with a blender is certainly a good option that you can use if you don’t have a juicer – or even if you have one. Here are some instructions for you and a video. But first – before anybody asks, let’s briefly explain the difference between a juicer and a blender.

What is the difference between a juicer and a blender?

A juicer separates the liquid from the fiber. A blender is designed to liquefy food by chopping it up at high speeds. It doesn’t separate the juice from the pulp, so the result is a mushy liquid, that in some cases may not taste very good. A blender can be quite useful in tandem with a juicer. For example, bananas contain little juice, so juicing them would be hard, but they taste delicious when blended with many juices, for example pineapple juice, or green vegetable juice.

Making Juice With Vitamix Blender

Yes, you can make JUICE with your BLENDER! And although any blender might do the job, probably the best blender for making juices is Vitamix. That is because Vita Mix is a truly powerful blender that blends the fruits and veggies into super-tiny pieces. The Vita-Mix’s blades pulverize the skins, seeds and peels of whole foods to make them easily digestible. * Just put your fruits and vegetables in the blender, add a little bit of water (this is optional, but will make the blending faster) and turn it on. * Once the ingredients have been blended into a puree, you can drink it as is, or strain the puree with a cheese cloth or a cotton bag to separate the juice from the pulp. * The cleanup is much faster than with traditional juicer. * What is amazing, you may get more juice and less pulp than when using traditional juicer.

Breville Juicer: My Review of Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor

If you are serious about your health (and you should be!), if you want to take charge of your life - GET YOURSELF A JUICER!  And one of the top juicer brands that I would recommend is the Breville juicer.

The vitamins and minerals from fresh, raw vegetables and fruits are really the ONLY thing that will give you the vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants in their natural, easy-to-absorb state that your body needs to stay healthy.

Making fresh juices with juice extractor allows you to consume a LARGER QUANTITY of raw fruits and veggies that would otherwise take too long to eat because of the fiber.

BUT WE NEED THE FIBER, RIGHT? – No, not really. Your body CANNOT digest fiber. Your body will extract the nutrients from fruits and vegetables and dispose of the fiber. With juicing, the only difference is that it does it BEFORE you consume it.

Juice Extractor Review: Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000-Watt Juice Extractor

It is not necessary to spend a lot of money on a juicer. Any juicing machine will do as any juice you make is better than no juice.

However, if you plan to purchase a new electric juicer, you might as well get Breville 800JEXL.

Breville Juicer

Breville Juicer

Reviewers agree that Breville Juice Fountain Elite is the top juicer in its price range. It is reasonably priced and many people find this juicer to be one of the world’s GREATEST juice machines on the market. Its three-inch chute means that many fruits can be juiced whole, saving time and effort.

Here are some pros and cons of this juicer:

Breville Juice Extractor Pros

THE DESIGN: Designed to commercial standards, the Breville 800JEXL is one of the sleekest and coolest looking kitchen appliances (just look at this baby on the picture below). Beautifully designed stainless die cast steel housing and motor body makes this juice extractor a work of art. If you have a modern kitchen with the stainless steel appliances, this juice machine will look awesome sitting on your counter. Well, it will look awesome on any kitchen counter, really.

EASY TO ASSEMBLE: The Breville juice fountain 800jexl is easy to put together. There are only 3 pieces: a stainless steel base that fits over the motor first, then the screen/blade, the top, and the pulp catcher. That’s it!

FAST & POWERFUL: It has two speeds for soft and hard fruits and a three inch feed tube which minimizes preparation and feeding time. It provides the speed and power to handle any juicing job that you may have. Even the hard fruits and vegetables – beets, pineapples, carrots – will not slow it down. Never makes a grinding noise like it’s trying too hard. NO. This juicer just zips right through everything.

NO CHOPPING: Extra large stainless feed chute allows you to insert whole fruits and vegetables, cutting operating time considerably. Almost all vegetables and fruits will fit into its opening, even small apples can go straight in (larger apples you will have to cut into quarters). This will save you time and require less cleanup.

SUPER EFFICIENT AND FANTASTIC QUALITY JUICE: The quality and quantity of juice is just great! The pulp is very dry, which means it is extracting the nutrients out, and it does make fantastic green juice. You can juice spinach, watercress, kale, even wheat grass – without any problem.

EASY TO CLEAN: When you’re done, the unit cleans up effortlessly. You can just take out the few pieces put them in your dish washer and that’s it! Or just rinse them in the sink with a little soap and water. But be sure to wash the juicer immediately after you juice, so it doesn’t get dry.

EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SUPPORT: The company is excellent in taking care of their customers.

Breville Juicer Cons

LIMITED WARRANTY PERIOD: The biggest concern with this juicer may be the limited warranty period (1-3 years), which is rather short compared to other juicing machines in its class.

Product Features

1000-watt juicer with 2 speed controls, high (13,000 RPM) and low (6,500 RPM)
Die-cast steel housing; stainless-steel micro mesh filter; titanium-plated cutting disk
Circular 3-inch feed tube accommodates whole fruits and vegetables
Pulp container, juicing pitcher, and manual/recipe book included; dishwasher-safe parts.
This model has an Italian made electronic motor that increases power under yield to maintain filter revolutions. It has great consumer reviews, too.
